Beautifully rendered with her voice filled with dust and peat, Wilson delivers a definitive jazz reading of this Delta classic, backed by the exceptional talent of Marvin Sewell on slide guitar. Ray Bryant offers a touching and spare solo Con Alma and Ahmad Jamal, in a qua. The annual A Great Night In Harlem concerts were the organization's was the only major funding source. Each year it, and the Foundation's caseload, grew Lilien and his partners at E-Trade Financial Corp. started the first Musicians Emergency Housing Fund, which enabled the Jazz Foundation to pay rents and keep mortgages from foreclosure. Despite the fact that the shoot was scheduled for 10am - a wildly early start time for the late-night denizens of the jazz scene - dozens of musicians showed up in pristine attire to pose for the photograph. The resulting picture, which came to be known as A Great Day in Harlem, became a historic and iconic image. As artists chattered and prepared for the photo, local residents and excited children gathered around Count Basie's hat was repeatedly stolen by mischievous children, and Kane eventually included the kids in the shoot
