Summer Crossing book. A lost treasure only recently found, Truman Capote's Summer Crossi. A lost treasure only recently found, Truman Capote's Summer Crossing is a precocious, confident first novel from one of the twentieth century's greatest writers. Set in New York just after World War II, the story follows a young carefree socialite, Grady McNeil, whose parents leave her alone in their Fifth Avenue penthouse for the summer. Summer Crossing is the first novel written by American author Truman Capote. He started the novel in about 1943 and worked on it intermittently for several years before putting it aside. What he finds instead is a sullen stepmother who delights in killing birds an uncle with the face - and heart - of a debauched child and a fearsome little girl named Idabel who may offer him the closest thing he has ever known to love. Breakfast at Tiffany's. By: Truman Capote. Narrated by: Michael C. Length: 2 hrs and 50 mins. Because the McNeils apartment was on Fifth Avenue and almost opposite the zoo, she had long since wearied of it, but today, goaded on by the novelty of eating out-of-doors, it seemed a gala notion. and furthermore, it would be all new to Clyde, for he drew a blank concerning certain sections of the city: the entire territory, for instance, that, Beginning around the Plaza, stretches and widens up and eastward. This park-east world was naturally the New York Grady knew best: except for Broadway, shed not often ventured out of it. truman capote summer crossing: Items in search results. or Best Offer.
