1st US 10" LP pressing with purple labels with silver text and ring with "Long Playing (33 1/3 RPM) Microgroove" on bottom edge. This label was in use on US 10" and 12" LPs from around 1949-1953 when it was replaced with a similar label, but the bottom rim text eliminates "33 1/3 RPM" and "Microgroove" leaving only "Long Playing" (see: Bob Graettinger / Stan Kenton - City Of Glass)
This record was also also issued as a 78rpm album (FBR-353) and as a 45rpm EP set (EBF-353). In 1954, or later, it was reissued in the 10" LP format as L-353. (see: Bob Graettinger / Stan Kenton - City Of Glass)

The 10" covers used the 45 slick pasted over a "wood" textured frame that was consistent with 10" LPs that were being concurrently released as 45 box sets.

First pressing was the UK version issued in 1951 per: Bob Graettinger / Stan Kenton - City Of Glass. This version notes "The Stan Kenton Orchestra" on the back. The back of this version notes "An augmented Kenton orchestra..."

There is a great deal written in music history books about the period of artistic experimentalism after World War II in Europe and the United States. Much like the period in France after the Franco-Prussian War. City of Glass - Stan Kenton, Robert Graettinger. Stan Kenton Plays The Music Of Bob Graettinger City of Glass And This Modern World - Stan Kenton's 'Innovations Orchestra'. While Kenton's 1950 album City of Glass, devoted to an ultra-modern, multimovement suite by Kenton arranger Robert F. Bob Graettinger, sold enough copies to keep it in the Capitol Records catalog for a time, to many of Kenton's fans it became the one Kenton album they had, but didn't listen to. Canadian composer Graettinger lived, like Mozart, only to the age of 34, but unlike Mozart did not go about creating timeless, endlessly pleasing melodies with a universal appeal.
